Screwed Black Steel Fittings are used to attach black iron pipe. In residential applications, black iron pipe is used to transport natural and propane gas. And since black steel pipe is manufactured as seamless, it is a better choice for gas transportation and fire sprinkler systems than galvanized pipe. Due to its high heat resistance, black iron pipe is also commonly used in fire sprinkler systems and for water supply lines due to its resistance to water damage.
